The idea
Make everyday walks feel like discovery. Disco turns the places you explore into a personal atlas, revealing the map a little at a time.
The experience
Start a walk, uncover nearby hexagons, and watch your map grow. Choose a neighbourhood or park as a quest, collect stamps for your progress, and discover Field Notes by visiting the places where they were left.
Engineering focus
A location app needs to keep recording dependable while making privacy choices understandable. Disco keeps detailed routes on the device and separates the personal map from optional contributions to the shared atlas. A hexagon grid gives exploration a consistent unit, while the map interface makes that progress visible.
The product spans mobile location tracking, a WebGL map, and a PostGIS-backed service. The challenge is making those parts feel like one simple action: go outside and explore.
